The modern golf balls are slightly different from the golf balls in the past because these new ones spin less off the flat faced surface than the older ones. Therefore to drive a golf ball as far as possible, you must develop a technique with a high launch along with a low spin rate. You will achieve spin to maximize the lift. There are different ways to achieve this of course.
Firstly, you tee the ball to such a height that the top of your driver is about one third of the distance to the ball. Secondly, the ball must be moved in a forward direction so that you can get to hit the ball while swinging up. This increases the launch angle and simultaneously decreases the spin rate of the ball. There are different ball positions and again you must go through the entire trial and error process to discover the ideal ball position for you.
The third strategy that you must employ is to maintain your position in such a way so as to hit the ball on the center. When you are on the grounds and are setting up, once you are in your position, just stretch your arms out and move the club upto the height of the ball. If you see that the ball is hitting the heel or the hosel side of the driver then instead of setting up your club in such a way that the center of the face of your driver is in line with the ball, then move back a few inches such that the toe of your driver is aligned to the ball. Now do the test mentioned before and see whether the ball is making contact with the face of the driver? If yes, then you are raedy to go and if not then keep moving backwards by a few inches.
Also, another important tip that you ,must keep in mind is that never grip your club too tightly. Always keep a relaxed grip or the swing often gets limited. Do NOT anticipate the ball, rather aim to hit through it and not AT it.This way you gan hit the ball easily and with a lot of fluidity.
To really swing hard at the ball use the muscles of your trunk and mid section. All the movement starts from the legs, and goes up towards the trunk. The strong muscles are located here and help you to unleash the full potential of your signal. Finish your swing and balance yourself on the right toe. Then if you are trying to release the hip muscles, lift your body weight off the left foot and up to the toe.
